Q1: What is the different between WDS and AP Client?

Yes,It depends. Some PPPoE service providers offer both limited and unlimited service If you subscribe limited PPPoE service, then it is better to enable Connect-on-demand by clicking checkbox of "Connect-on-demand" and set "Maximum Idle Time" to whatever it is suitable for you. After you enable this function, your router will disconnect PPPoE service from your ISP when the time you set is passed unless you trigger router by any action to access Internet.

               WDS

        AP Client

Advantage

1) Specify the MAC address of both end of Bridges, so the bridge link can be specifically built.

2) Up to 6 WDS bridge table for each device, hence each device can connect to multiple wireless device by multiple bridge links.

3) AP and WDS function can operate simutaneously.

1) Act as the WLAN client behavior, bridge connection is established by client and AP association automatically.

2) Ethernet device that the AP Client attached to is OS independent, no OS driver required.

Disadvantage

Basic WLAN knowledge required. Manually setting required.

1) Only the Host AP can connect to multiple client bridge.

2) The client bridge only provides singe link to the Host AP. 3) AP Client and AP mode can not operate simutaneously, the operation mode must be separated.

Q2: Can I use a wireless network to interconnect two LANs?

Yes. This type of installation requires two access points that support bridge mode or WDS
function. The wireless connection allows the two Wireless Bridge to communicate with each other, and therefore interconnect the two LAN's.

Q3: How to upgrade the WLan 54/108 Mbps products to 108 Mbps?

WL-G54AAP(Firmware update):
Please select Maintenance-->Update Firmware-->browse

After you have downloaded the most recent version of the firmware from our Website you can browse your hard drive to locate the downloaded file and click OK to update the firmware.

WL-G54AAP (Enable Super G function )
Please Enable the Super G function in WL-G54AAP.

Please apply setting and restart.

WL-G54APC,WL-G54AIA (utility,driver update)
The latest utility version is v3.0.26.31225

Please try to install  the utility  and update the driver .

WL-G54APC,WL-G54AIA (Enable Super G function )
Please Enable the Super G function in IEEE 802.11g utility .

Q4: How to make the WL-2100A and WL-2010TP can communicate each other?

1.Setting the WL-2100A as Pont to Point bridge Mode.
2.Type WL-2010TP 's MAC address in SNMP Manager .
3.Setting the WL-2100A 's Essid ,channel number .

4.Enable the WL-2010TP’s WDS function, and type the WL-2100A ‘s Mac address.

5.Type channel number,ESSID in WL-2010TP

Q5: I would like to ask a solution about IP camera and Wireless device,The distance between the cameras are 300meters.The big squares are building 10 level high.Between the building two distance known. It is L1 = 1500 meter, L2 = 2500 meter. The other building where are no marked distance there are the cameras. Each camers (IP server based cameras). We install top of the buildings WL-2000Ts.Please, advise me that how we could solve and manage to this system ?

In order to have a better transmit/receiving performance,we suggest to add 6 units of WL-2000BP in this environment.

1.Connect all Cameras to LinkPro Switch (SH-9216RT or SH-9224M)
2.Connect the Switch to WL-2000BP on the ground
3.The WL-2000BP on the ground connect to WL-2000D (on top of building A, D) via WDS function
4.WL-2000D (building A, D) connect to another WL-2000BP (on top of building) use cross-over cable

We would like to remind you some points.
a.The antenna used on building A & D should be "directional" high-gain antenna instead of omnidirectional antenna.
b.Our suggestion was based on wireless application algorithm, and it still depends on real installation on the spot.

c.If the building is very large as shown below and it would cause the transmission Line(cable) too long between antenna and wireless bridge which will make the signal loss too big to transfer the data, then such wireless structure has to be modified as the one on the bottom.

Use 3 of WL-2000BP and 1 switch on top of building, and connect all WL-2000BP tothat switch because the ethernet cable can extend to 100 meter, so the wireless bridge can placed beas close to the corners as possible.

Once again,we would like to emphasize that all wireless application(especially outdoor application) has to debug on the spot after initial installation. For example, if there is one company on high level and near top of building, when they also use same frequency for wireless transmission in the office, it will cause interference to the wireless transmission on top of building.
