Q1: What is Auto-negotiation?

Auto-negotiation is a mechanism that takes control of the cable when a connection is established to a network device.Auto-negotiation automatically switches to the correct technology, such as 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, or a corresponding Full Duplex mode .Once the highest performance common mode is determined, Auto-negotiation passes control of the cable to the appropriate technology and becomes transparent until the connection is broken

Q2: What is Flow Control?

During times of heavy network activity, a switch's port buffers will receive too much traffic and fill up faster than the switch can send the information. In cases like this, the switch tells the transmitting device to wait so the information in the buffer can be sent. This intervention is called low control.

Q3: What is PVID?

An untagged frame doesn't carry any VID to which it belongs. When a untagged frame is received,Ingress Process insert a tag contained the PVID into the untagged frame. Each physical port has a default VID called PVID (Port VID). PVID is assigned to untagged frames or priority tagged frames (frames with null (0) VID) received on this port Set the port VLAN ID that will be assigned to untagged traffic on a given port. This feature is useful for accommodating devices that you want to participate in the VLAN but that don’t support tagging.

Q4: What is VLAN’s benefits?

1.Grouping users into logical networks for performance enhancement.
2.Provides effective broadcasts containment between Segmented Ports, which prevents
3.flooding of a network.
4.Offers security by completely isolating from each other different Broadcast Domains connected on separate Segmented Ports.
5.Preserving current investment in equipment and cabling.
6.Providing an easy, flexible, economic way to modify logical groups when needed.
7.Network administrators can easily "fine tune" the network.
8.Keeping network structure from the physical topology of the cabling.
9.Making large networks more manageable.

Q5: How to Enable the WOL function?

WOL is implemented through a combination of hardware and software components.
The hardware components are:
▲ WOL-enabled LAN adapter
▲ Auxiliary "flea" power from the PC power supply to the LAN adapter
▲ Wake-up signal interface on the system-board chip set

The software components are:
▲ WOL-enabled system BIOS
▲ Client software for network management application

Process:
1.Connect WOL cable to mainboard ‘s WOL slot.
2.Enable the WOL function in BIOS.
3.Execute WOL software Ex: Magic Packet.
